Another day of heat is expected across the Midwest to New England on Thursday, with temperatures ranging from the low to mid 90s becoming widespread. Some areas may even experience highs in the upper 90s. For instance, Hartford in Connecticut could see a high temperature of 97 degrees, while Manchester in New Hampshire is forecasted to hit 98 degrees.
New England residents can look forward to a relief from the scorching heat on Friday as a cold front moves through the region. Boston, for example, will see a significant drop in temperature from 97 degrees on Thursday to 79 degrees on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions are expected to experience a surge in heat on Friday, which will then extend southward to much of the Southeast over the weekend. Washington D.C. is anticipated to reach a sweltering 100 degrees on Saturday, marking the first time the city has hit the 100-degree mark since 2016.
