Eleven individuals were transported to the hospital following a rally held by former President Donald Trump in Arizona on Wednesday, as a result of heat exhaustion. The temperature in Phoenix soared to 109 degrees, contributing to the adverse effects of the heat on attendees. The heat dome phenomenon in Arizona has been expanding towards the north and east, following a series of record-breaking temperatures in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
Meteorologists are closely monitoring the progression of the heat dome, which continues to impact regions such as Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Tucson. Excessive heat alerts remain in effect for these areas, with temperatures well above average. Yesterday, several records were shattered, with Death Valley reaching a scorching 122 degrees, Phoenix hitting 113 degrees, and Las Vegas recording 111 degrees.
Although a slight decrease in temperatures is anticipated over the next few days, the weather will still remain unseasonably hot. For instance, Phoenix is expected to drop from 111 degrees today to 106 degrees by Sunday, while Las Vegas will see a decrease from 109 degrees to 103 degrees. Despite these reductions, temperatures will remain higher than the average for this time of year.
Looking ahead, Phoenix is forecasted to experience temperatures above the average high of 102 degrees for the next week. Similarly, Las Vegas, where the typical high is around 97 degrees, will continue to face above-average temperatures in the coming days. While a temporary dip is expected over the weekend, temperatures are projected to rise once again next week, prolonging the heatwave in these regions.
