Heartwarming reason behind Jadon Sancho goal celebration in Manchester United vs Sheriff

Jadon Sancho dedicated his goal against Sheriff Tiraspol to a young fan who gifted him some personalised shin pads.

Manchester United travelled to Moldova to face Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday, with Erik ten Hag's men looking to pick up three points after being defeated 1-0 by Real Sociedad last week. Ten Hag's men headed for the half-time interval two goals to the good thanks to strikes from Sancho and a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty.

It was Sancho who got the opener as he responded well to the disappointing news that he hadn't been included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the upcoming international break. A lovely bit of build-up play from United sparked by Christian Eriksen saw the Dane give the ball to Sancho, who showed great skill and composure to create space and slot home.

The winger celebrated his strike by taking one of his shinpads out of his sock and pointing towards it. The personalised shin pads were gifted to Sancho by a young supporter and the celebration was to dedicate the goal to the fan.

Sancho wasn't the only United player to make a youngster's day. Before the game, Ronaldo hugged a young fan who broke through security to embrace his hero and then took him on the team coach to meet the rest of the squad.

The Portuguese then grabbed his first goal of the campaign by hammering a penalty down the middle after Diogo Dalot was felled in the box.
