Hearts troll Hibs over 'relegation party' eight years on from Tynecastle win

Hearts have trolled their Edinburgh rivals Hibs over the infamous 'relegation party' from eight years ago.

Back in 2013/14 Hearts were rock bottom of the Premiership following their administration confirmation.

Big-money stars were sold on with Gary Locke forced to highlight younger talent.

They sat 15 points adrift with Hibs set to make the trip to Tynecastle.

The Hibees had the chance to send their rivals down and fans dubbed it their "relegation party" in Gorgie.

But a fiery Hearts came flying out the traps to shut their opponents up.

Dale Carrick finished well from Ryan Stevenson's knock-down to make it 1-0 after just seven minutes.

Ex-Jambo Alan Maybury was sent off in the dying moments, but there was still time for Billy King to race through unchallenged and make it 2-0.

Hearts fans lapped up the fact they'd spoiled the planned party, and it got even better for them when Hibs' free fall continued and they ended up joining them in the Championship.

Remembering that day eight years on, the Jambos' Twitter page shared highlights of the match and wrote: "Eight years ago today.

"There aint no party like a relegation party."

They then quoted tweeted that one with a GIF of Carrick looking smug in the post-match press conference.
