Robbie Neilson admits Hearts will make January additions with funds available as they bid to finish best of the rest once again this season.
The capital club finished third behind Celtic and Rangers last term and with that secured guaranteed European group stage football and a cash boost to the tune of around £3million. That carrot is once again up for grabs this season with the Jambos determined to grab it once again over their other Premiership rivals.
The Tynecastle side have suffered with a high number of injuries this season as they juggle European and domestic football with results in the Premiership suffering with Neilson and Co currently seventh and trailing third-placed Aberdeen by five points. Talks are already underway to identify areas of the park Hearts would like to strengthen in with the target to be stronger by the time the January window slams shut. A couple of fringe men could move on but what is certain is additions will be coming to Gorgie, but it will all depend on what they decide is required to boost the squad.

Speaking to Edinburgh Evening News, Neilson said: “We aren’t going to come out and say we need this, this and this, but we have ideas
“Like any transfer window, you want to be stronger by the time you come out of it. That’s going to be the objective. We have already had a chat about what positions and we are trying to source players in these positions, although we have a number of games to play before we get into that.
“Every window, there are funds there at Hearts. Always.
“It’s just about picking the right players, the right positions, and the right types of people to come in. There will be movement in January but what the movement will be will depend on what we decide.
“I’m not going to say what positions we are looking to strengthen. We have players there at the moment who have to perform, make sure they stay in the team, and make sure they show they can stay here.”
