Hearts 'favourites' for Connor Ronan transfer with Aberdeen keen on Wolves ace

Hearts are believed to be the favourites to snap up Connor Ronan, according to reports.

The Wolves midfielder impressed during his stint at St Mirren and the Buddies were keen to extend his loan period at the club.

Aberdeen and Jim Goodwin - who joined the Dons from Saints - are also interested in snapping up the 24-year-old.

But the Daily Record report that Robbie Neilson's men are in the driving seat for his signature.

Hearts are guaranteed European group stage football next season and with that have secured a financial windfall.

They have already snapped up Alan Forrest on a free from Livingston while they are believed to be close to a deal for Central Coast Mariners defender Kye Rowles.

Lawrence Shankland is another name that has been mentioned.

Ronan played 30 times in all competitions last season scoring eight goals and assisting a further five.

Speaking about his move to Tynecastle last week, Forrest told Hearts TV: “I’m delighted to be here. When I first heard over the summer that Hearts were interested, I knew straight away that this is where I wanted to come,” he told Hearts TV.

“Hearts had a great season last year, and you could tell they were getting closer to Rangers and Celtic. The league showed that they were a clear third place. I think it’s the right step for me coming from Livingston to kick on.

“I had a good chat with Robbie about what his plans for me were and where I would fit in, and I have to say, it was a really positive conversation.

"I came away from it thinking that this is exactly where I want to go.

“I felt like I had some really good times at Livingston, but felt I was ready to take that next step. Playing at Tynecastle is going to be huge for me.

"It was obviously a different experience when I came through with Livingston, but now being able to play in front of Hearts fans is something that really excites me.

I can’t wait for it.”
