Hearts' Europa League qualifying opponents revealed after Thursday night result

Hearts will play Benfica in the third round of Europa League qualifiers.

Wouter Vrancken's side were knocked out of the Champions League by Sturm Graz at the second qualifying round, losing 6-0 on aggregate.

They have parachuted into European football's second-tier competition, where the Portuguese giants now lie in wait.

Hearts will travel to Lisbon for the first leg next Thursday, August 6, before the return tie at Tynecastle on Thursday, August 13.

Benfica reached the third round of Europa League qualifying after a 6-2 aggregate victory over Swiss outfit St Gallen this evening.

They finished third in the Portuguese top flight last term, eight points behind eventual champions Porto.

Marco Silva is in charge of the club after Jose Mourinho's departure to Real Madrid last month.
