Hearts announce £3m operational profit as turnover soars by 90

HEARTS have published the club annual accounts boasting a £3million operational profit and a turnover increase of 90 percent year-on-year.

The Tynecastle club confirmed healthy accounts for the year-ending June 30, 2022 with figures returning to "pre-pandemic levels of financial strength".

Releasing the club accounts, a statement on the Hearts website stated "the club has grown in all aspects of its operation".

Headline figures include a £14.6m turnover - up 90 percent from the previous year - a profit before tax of £1.6m and net assets of £24m.

The club also confirmed it had received record retail and hospitality sales, significant gate receipt income and a "continued partnership and sponsorship support" leading to a £6.9m increase in turnover.

The strong financial figures come in the year where ownership of the club was transferred to the fans and Hearts finished third in the Scottish Premiership, reach the Scottish Cup final and play Europa Conference League group stage football.

A strategic report included in the accounts - presented by club dorectors - commented: "On the pitch, our First Team played their part.

"They once again reached the Scottish Cup Final and they convincingly secured a 3rd place finish in the Scottish Premiership, thereby guaranteeing Group Stage European football for the first time in almost 2 decades.

"Off the field, too, this was a year that brought success. It was to be a year of “Change and Investment”.

"We introduced changes, both in structure and in resources, aimed, not only at returning the Club to its pre-Covid position but at creating a platform for continued growth and success.

"We strengthened across all areas of the business including Squad Recruitment, the Academy, the Women’s team and our Commercial Operations.

"In every case, our commitment and investment has already reaped rewards and we can look forward to an even greater return in the coming years."
