Heartbroken wife says Scots biker 'died doing what he loved' after horror crash

A devastated Scots woman said her biker husband 'died doing what he loved' after he was killed in a horror crash.

Jon Marsh, 48, died in an accident on the B961 at the junction with Panmure Road in Monikie, near Dundee, at around 8.50pm on Tuesday. Emergency services raced to the scene of the accident, which involved a black BMW R1150 GS motorbike and an MG5 electric vehicle.

Ambulance crews attended but Jon, from Brechin, was pronounced dead at the scene. His devastated wife broke the news in a post on social media saying he was on the way home from a biker club social event when tragedy struck.

Wife Tracy Ann Marsh said: "This is a post I never thought I'd have to write. It breaks my heart to tell you that my best friend and love of my life Jon Marsh lost his life last night doing what he loved best, riding his bike.

"He was on his way home to us after a social night with his beloved [club] Rejects MCC | EAST COAST.

"Words can't express how the family feel. We know there's been news about a bike down locally but it's only now we can tell you. Ride free honey."

Jon Marsh was a much-loved member of the biking community (Facebook)

The biking community hailed Jon as a 'genuinely great guy' with a 'wicked sense of humour' in the wake of the news. Meanwhile members of his biking club Rejects MCC | EAST COAST changed their profile pictures on Facebook to black in tribute.

Bri Davie, who is a member of the club, said: "It is with a heavy heart that we are writing this post. Rejects MCC | EAST COAST has lost one of its brother’s, Jon Marsh.

"He was genuinely a great guy with a wicked sense of humour who would’ve done anything for anyone. He will be sorely missed, but always remembered.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time. RIP our friend, our brother."

George Callander commented: "Jon was a great friend, a great guy and an outstanding brother. Our hearts go out to the family at this very sad time. RIP Jon, ride free."

Jordan Pratt said: "Utterly heartbreaking news, Jon was a true gent. So glad I got to know him in the time I was in Rejects. Thoughts with Tracy and the Rejects in this horrendous time. Rest in peace."

Kieran Hughes added: "Will love you always brother, ride on in the heavens. Rest in forever peace."

Police closed the road for more than six hours to allow for a full accident investigation to be carried out and they are now appealing for information. No one else was injured as a result of the accident.

Sergeant Kevin Wilkie, Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Jonathan’s family at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened is ongoing and we continue to appeal to anyone who can assist, who has not already spoken with officers, to please get in touch.

“If you have dash-cam footage or anything else that could help, please call us on 101 and quote incident number 3281 of Tuesday, 22 November, 2022.”
