Heartbroken Scots family pay tribute to 'beautiful soul' who died after falling ill offshore

Tributes have been paid to 'beautiful soul' who died suddenly after falling ill whilst working offshore.

Glasgow dad-of-three Alan Carr's loved ones have been left devastated after his tragic passing on March 31.

The Scaffolder took unwell whilst working offshore last week and died a few days later at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Sister Siobhan Byrne told the Daily Record her brother was a 'beautiful soul'.

She added: "Alan had such a beautiful soul, who touched so many lives. It has been incredible to see how much he meant to everyone."

Alan, of Whiteinch, is survived by his three children Darren, Kaitlin and Kyle.

After his tragic death, friend Robert Nicholson set-up a fundraiser to help pay for his funeral costs.

In just three days he has raised over £7000.

Speaking about his pal of six years, Robert said: "He was such a great guy that everyone loved. I never heard a bad word said about him.

"Everyone took to him great.

"It’s been very sad for all of us as he was just such a well liked, great guy."

Posting on the fundraising page, Robert wrote: "Fellow scaffolders and all that knew wee Alan Carr.

"I’m organising this fundraiser after Alan passed away so sudden leaving a heartbroken family and young kids .

"For anyone that knew Alan knows he’s one of the nicest guys you could ever meet .

"He was always happy smiling away.

"Everyone that ever worked with Alan instantly liked him as he had a heart of gold and had time for everyone.

"He was so well loved in the construction industry all over the UK.

"Let’s give Alan’s family the love and support they need at this terrible, tragic time.

"Rest in peace Al."

Friends and family left heartbreaking messages for Alan.

Bob Clark said: "Terrible news. Such a great loss.

"Just like everyone is saying, beside gentleman in the dictionary they should have a picture of Alan.

"Go easy, step lightly, stay free Alan - it’s a musical journey."

Paul Ramsay said: "The world is a sadder place today without you in it. A true gentleman. Until we meet again Amigo!!

"Rest easy."

Eileen Moffat added: "Fly High Alan. You will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you.

"My thoughts are with all your loved ones."

'On behalf of all the family, we cannot thank everyone enough for all their support.

Siobhan said the family have been left overwhelmed by everyone support

She said: "We are privileged to have everyone who knew and loved Alan contribute to giving him a wonderful send off.

"Huge thanks to Robert for starting this beautiful gesture, and everyone for their thoughts and support."

Alan’s family have organised a balloon release today in his honour.

People are asked to gather outside his home in Curle Street, Whiteinch, at 4pm on Sunday, April 10.

They are asked to bring along their own balloon to release.
