Katie Price says she has “limited access” to two of her five children as she admitted her relationship with her ex Kieran Hayler has broken down.
The 44-year-old made the heartbreaking admission in her new documentary for Channel 4, where she speaks openly about her recent struggles and mental health battle.
The one off episode follows the former glamour model during the events after her drink-driving crash last year after she narrowly avoided jail.
‘ Katie Price : Trauma And Me’ will see the mum-of-five speak openly for the first time about her battle with suicidal thoughts and PTSD.
It was after a bout of “severe depression” that Katie says she considered taking her own life, saying the only thing that kept her going was her children – Harvey, 20, Junior, 17, Princess, 15, Jett, nine, and Bunny, eight.
“All I saw was the kids’ faces and I never want that to happen again,” she said.
Katie has now revealed that she is seeing some of her kids less and less and even has “limited access” to two of her children.
“The hardest thing I’ve had to deal with in the recent months is having limited access to some of my kids,” she said. “Recent events have meant I’m seeing my youngest children less and the relationship between me and their father has broken down.”
She added: “It’s not good for my mental health and it’s certainly not good for their mental health. They should be having their mum in their life. At the moment I’m stuck in this rut with Jett and Bunny and it is frustrating for me.
“You know, seven months, how has it even got to this? It’s heart-breaking and I just wish it wasn’t like this. All I can do is hope that this won’t be forever.”
Katie says it wasn’t the drink-driving crash that triggered her mental health struggles and that things were a lot worse just a few years ago.
“I hit a severe depression a couple of years ago, depression on top of PTSD. I was suicidal, I didn’t want to be here,” she said.
Katie’s terminally ill mum Amy, 69, and stepdad Paul also appear in the documentary, with Paul speaking to cameras for the first time about Katie’s health.
He said: “I think her downfall has to start from the divorce with Pete. From that moment, all she got was backlash, backlash, backlash and I find it quite hurtful. I’m not saying she’s an angel, but I think she deserves better. I can understand why she’s got mental health [struggles]. It’s hard.”
“Kate is good at hiding her feelings, we knew she had loads and loads of problems,” Amy added. “So when she had this accident the first thing she said to me was, ‘Why have I survived?’ I’m not sure if it was a suicide attempt, but you just realise how delicate she is."
She added: “It was a cry for help, really. As a mum it’s devastating because you never want to see your child go through this and you do question yourself.”
An insider says Katie has never opened up like this before over fears of being “judged” or “letting her children or family down”.
“Katie hopes this documentary will allow the trolls to see her for who she really is and think twice when they are being hateful,” they told OK! Magazine.
They added: “Katie’s new documentary is a very sensitive one for her. No one sees the struggle that she goes through daily and it’s time she got the chance to show the world the ‘real’ Katie Price.”
Katie Price: Trauma And Me airs on Thursday, September 8 at 9pm on Channel 4.
