Northumbria Police confirmed a body has been found in the search for missing Throckley man Kris Butler.
Though the body has yet to be formally identified, officers believe it to be Kris, 40, who went missing from his home in the Newcastle suburb on Saturday afternoon. Police had previously appealed for help searching for Kris.
There is not, police said, thought to be any third party involvement in the death, and a report is now being prepared for the coroner. Kris had last been seen taking his two dogs for a walk in the vicinity of his Throckley home.
He had left his address around 6.30pm with his French bulldog and his pocket bulldog, heading for the track near Throckley Hall. Later that evening when he did not return home, his family raised the alarm and called police.
Specialist oficers are now supporting Kris' family. Kris’ dogs were also found by a member of the public and retuned home.
Superintendent Neil Armsworth of Northumbria Police said: "This was not the outcome we wanted for Kris and his family and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
"Please respect their privacy while they come to terms with what has happened. I’d like to thank everyone who helped us with our searches, including members of the public who responded to and shared our appeal. It is much appreciated."
