An Edinburgh cyclist has shared footage of a terrifying near miss with a Lothian Bus.

They tweeted: “I am curious if all of your drivers hold a Valid Driving Licence? Because no sensible driver would do this. I actually got knocked off my bike onto incoming traffic! Do Better!”

At Edinburgh Live, we caught up with the cyclist and talked to him about this event that “shocked” him.

These are pictures of the footage that were shared on Twitter. (@EdCycleHome on Twitter)

They said: “It passed me very, very quickly and dangerously. I came off my bike and seat and I thankfully didn’t fall on the ground if I had it would have been a different story with oncoming traffic moving.

“It was pure shock really and I might have said a few swear words afterwards but thankfully the camera did not pick them up.”

As you can see from the footage, the cyclist was attempting to take a right onto West Richmond Street, indicated to go there and waited.

Following on from this, you can see the No.31 bus heading down Nicolson Street towards the cyclists. This bus disappears from the camera on the right hand side. As the cyclist turns his head to the left, the No.3 passes close by.

Lothian Buses have been approached for a comment.
