Healthcare workers: how has UK mental healthcare fared since the lockdowns were lifted?

Prescriptions for antidepressants in England have risen dramatically over the pandemic as referrals to psychological talking therapies plunged.

In 2021/22, an estimated 8.3 million patients received an antidepressant drug, a 6% year-on-year rise from 7.9 million, with nearly half a million more adults in England now taking antidepressants compared with the previous year.
