Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has suggested that Joao Cancelo 'made the best decision for him' after the Portuguese full-back left the Blues to join Bayern Munich.
Cancelo departed City to join the German giants on loan until the end of the season, with the Bundesliga club having the option to sign the player permanently in the summer. The defender made 98 Premier League appearances for the Blues and won two league titles and the EFL Cup under Pep Guardiola.
However, the 28-year-old only started three games since returning from the World Cup and appeared to have fallen down the pecking order. His move to Bayern came less than a year after he signed a new five-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions.

Bernardo has played alongside Cancelo on 204 occasions in his career, with 128 of those coming in a City shirt. The Blues midfielder has admitted that he will miss his fellow countryman following his Etihad exit.
"Happy for him, because it was the path he chose to continue happily in his life," Bernardo Silva told Eleven Sports (via sportwitness).
"Sad for the team and for me, because I won’t be able to count on him every day. He knows that he is a person that I like a lot. But he made the best decision for him and I’m really happy for him."
The City man also discussed Enzo Fernandez's record-breaking transfer to Chelsea in January - admitting that his move was a 'normal situation' and wished the Argentine luck at his new club.
"It is a normal situation in the football world," he said. "From what I understand, Benfica tried to hold on to the player and couldn’t, so they went their separate ways. Benfica move on, Enzo moves on, and I wish him the best. He was a player who came to help Benfica.
"He did it for a short time, but he helped a lot and, therefore, [I wish] the best for him."
Bernardo started for City in the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, while Cancelo has registered two assists in two matches for Bayern.
