A family holiday that had become a familiar summer tradition ended in an emergency that has changed daily life for an 11-year-old boy from Pennsylvania. The child, Brodie Dituri, was seriously injured during a fishing trip in central Florida after an alligator attacked him at the water's edge. His father stepped in immediately, while people nearby rushed over to help and emergency services were called. Since returning home, the family's attention has shifted away from the holiday itself and towards hospital appointments, rehabilitation and difficult decisions about the future. The incident has also left a lasting emotional impact, with Brodie's father saying his son now has no desire to return to Florida.
