He has been instrumental in elevating the level of comedy in India: Krushna Abhishek on Raju Srivastava

Actor-comedian Raju Srivastava, who was rushed to AIIMS in Delhi after he suffered a cardiac arrest in August while working out at a gym, passed away today. He battled for life for almost a month-and-a-half. The news of his passing has left his friends and fans teary-eyed.

Krushna Abhishek, who had known him for many years, says, “It’s really sad. I had known Raju bhai for a long time. My first film, Dil Bhi Kya Cheez Hai (2000) as an assistant director featured him as an actor. Amongst other responsibilities, my job was to get him from his vanity van to the set. So, I worked and interacted with him right from my days of struggle. I also got many chances to share the screen and stage with him when I became an actor. I acted in the film, Jahan Jaaeyega Hamen Paaeyega (2017), which starred Chi Chi mama (Govinda) and Raju bhai. I performed with him on Comedy Circus and in live shows. Comedy ki ek golden era unhone dekhi hai and he has been instrumental in elevating the level of comedy in India. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by everyone.”
