'He has a huge impact' - Erik ten Hag on Manchester United plan for coping without Casemiro

Erik ten Hag insists Manchester United can cope without Casemiro as the Brazilian midfielder begins his four-game domestic suspension in the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham.

The 31-year-old will also miss Premier League games against Newcastle, Brentford and Everton after picking up his second red card of the season last weekend.

United have struggled without the former Real Madrid midfielder in recent weeks, allowing 25 shots on goal during a 3-2 defeat at Arsenal, and the heavy defeats at Brentford and Manchester City also came without Casemiro.

His worst performance in a United shirt coincided with the 7-0 defeat to Liverpool two weeks ago, but while Ten Hag admits Casemiro has a "huge impact" on the team, he is confident they can replace him, with Scott McTominay in reserve and Marcel Sabitzer back fit.

"We had many more games without Casemiro… We did really well without Casemiro against Arsenal, Leeds and also at the start of the season but I want to have Casemiro available, He has a huge impact on our game," he said.

"We also won many games without Casemiro so he is not available so we have to do with many players."

United might be without Casemiro on Sunday but Ten Hag insists the memories of the Carabao Cup success at Wembley will bring extra motivation to return there in the FA Cup.

"Of course, it’s huge motivation, we all really enjoyed Wembley, we enjoyed winning a trophy, this has to be the fuel for the next one, to be pushed by that idea to bring extra energy to beat Fulham," he said.
