In the wake of the “toxic” mum group drama involving Ashley Tisdale and a slew of Hollywood mums — including Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor — loads of peeps have seemingly taken sides online, including Hilary’s sister Haylie Duff.
Shortly after the drama kicked off, a screenshot began circulating online, showing that Haylie — who appeared alongside Hilary in Lizzie McGuire and Material Girls — had liked the post which seemingly reads her sister for filth.
“LEAVE YOUR TOXIC FRIENDS BEHIND YOU IN 2026, says @ashleytisdalefrench,” the post read. “For #ItsBeenAYear, the actress, beauty founder, and mother details dumping her mom group, where the bullying between women mirrored their children’s playground antics. Read the story of how it all unfolded, in her own words, at the link in bio.”
Us Weekly later confirmed that the screenshot was legit and Haylie did, in fact, like the post — thus reminding folks of the rumoured sister spat that kicked off a few years back.
The Hilary Duff and Haylie Duff feud, explained
In 2022, TikToker Jordy Cray shared a viral video in which he pointed out that Hilary and Haylie — who were once suuuuuper close and always appeared on each other’s socials — were no longer liking each other’s content, had suddenly stopped appearing in photos together (they have not been photographed together since 2019) and that Hilary’s husband Matthew Koma was not following Haylie.
Hilary added fuel to the fire when she admitted to struggling with “family drama” in a November 2025 interview with Rolling Stone.
While many have guessed that the squabble could be down to politics as Haylie is reportedly a Republican and Hilary is a Democrat, goss guru DeuxMoi has claimed their bust-up was actually over men (*sigh*). Apparently Hilary’s husband Matthew doesn’t get along with Haylie or her fiancé Matthew Rosenberg.
Haylie liking a post with an essay that seemingly rinses her sister is a pretty clear-cut sign that there’s trouble in sister paradise!
Oh, and speaking of Matthew Koma — yesterday, the musician defended his wife and her mum clique with a spicy as hell Instagram Story directed at Ashley.
Koma — who has been married to Duff since 2019 — shared a fake interview post mimicking Tisdale’s The Cut article, with the headline: “When you’re the most self-obsessed tone-deaf person on earth, other mums tend to shift focus to their actual toddlers.”

Following on from Koma’s weigh-in, Ashley Tisdale’s husband Christopher French has now seemingly entered the chat, sharing an Instagram Story that reads: “It’s your choice whether or not to engage.”
While we don’t know for sure if this was aimed at the mum group drama, the timing of it all is certainly eyebrow-raising as he no doubt would have felt pressure to publicly defend his missus after Hilary’s husband valiantly defended his wife and ripped Ashley to shreds.

It comes after a heap of other celebrities entered the chat, including Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Crystal Kung Minkoff and fellow ex-Disney girl Christy Carlson Romano, both of whom claimed to have intel on the situation.
I’ll leave you now with this TikTok from Carlson Romano about the untold chaos that occurs in mum groups…
