Hayley Erbert, the professional dancer, has received medical clearance to return to the Symphony of Dance tour alongside her husband, Derek Hough. The couple joyfully shared the news in a video posted on Hough's Instagram Story, expressing their excitement to be back on stage with their fans. Erbert, who is 29 years old, announced her readiness to dance again as the tour kicks off on April 14th in Melbourne, Fla.
Reflecting on her recovery journey, Erbert expressed gratitude for being able to dance again after a challenging four months. She shared her surprise and blessing at reuniting with her husband on stage, noting that dancing has reignited her soul and accelerated her healing process. Erbert also thanked her medical team for supporting her decision to return to dancing while prioritizing her health and safety.
In December 2023, Erbert underwent emergency brain surgery during a tour stop in Washington, DC, after experiencing disorientation. The surgery was necessary due to a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel, requiring an emergency craniectomy. Subsequently, she underwent a second surgery to replace a significant portion of her skull and had to shave her head as her scars healed.
Throughout her recovery, Hough stood by Erbert's side, publicly praising her strength and resilience. He described her as an incredible and miraculous woman, emphasizing her unwavering determination and courage. The couple, who got married in August in a picturesque redwood forest ceremony in California, are looking forward to reuniting on stage and sharing their love of dance with their fans once again.
