Hawaii helicopter crash: Four killed in ‘full-speed’ collision on Kauai’s Pacific Missile Range Facility

Lindsie Fratus-Thomas

Four people have been killed in a “full speed” helicopter crash in Kauai, Hawaii on the island’s Pacific Missile Range Facility.

According to one witness, Chris Turner, the impact appeared to happen at full speed when the helicopter crashed just off

“It just went down. It was full speed. It was crazy,” he told the Star Advertiser.

“Something must’ve malfunctioned for him to not know which way was up or down.”

The four people who were killed in the crash have not been named as yet

Kauai Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami said in a statement: “First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who were lost this morning in this heartbreaking tragedy.

“I know there are no words that can express the extent of what you are going through or provide the solace that you need, but please know that our entire community is here for you. We offer our partners at PMRF any resources they may need, and we offer the families involved our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

According to the Advertiser, the helicopter had been contracted from Croman Corp. to support a training operation at the missile range facility.
