With 2022 coming to a close, it’s time for you to vote for who you think has been Newcastle United’s footballer of the year.
It’s been a whirlwind 12 months for the Magpies, following last year’s takeover and this season’s impressive start, with the club sitting third in the Premier League table going into the World Cup break.
Chronicle writers have picked out four players who have managed to put in a positive showing over the past year - with one needing your vote to become Newcastle Fans’ Footballer of the Year for 2022.

Kieran Trippier
One of the first arrivals under the new ownership, the England full-back joined the club from Atletico Madrid in January and made an instant impact.
Producing impressive defensive displays as well as goals and assists, Trippier has become a fan favourite at St James’ Park.
His leadership role has increased moving into this season and a call-up to the England squad for the World Cup was well-deserved.
Bruno Guimaraes
A big-money signing in January, Guimaraes has set the Premier League alight with some memorable performances in midfield.
Bringing Champions League quality to Eddie Howe’s squad, the Brazilian has netted eight goals in 22 starts for the club so far.
Those performances have seen links to big moves away to the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona but Newcastle fans will be hoping he’ll be at St James’ for the long term.
Joelinton
Much like his club, the Brazilian has undergone a transformation over the past 12 months, going from struggling forward to one of the first names on the team sheet.
Appearing much more comfortable in midfield, Joelinton now offers versatility in a number of positions and proves a vital option for his manager.
Miguel Almiron
Finding his best form since signing for the club in 2019, Almiron has been a man on a mission in 2022.
Eight goals so far in 2022/23 has seen him become one of the league’s most dangerous players, taking home both the player and goal of the month awards for October.
Now also an integral part of Howe’s first-team, any talk of signing a replacement has almost certainly died down.
