Dublin has been named among the best cities in Europe for single people by travel publication Big 7 Travel.
While the popular magazine points out a number of reasons for Dublin's inclusion, there are a number of reasons people might argue with Dublin's ranking so high up on the list. In a list of 50 cities around Europe, Dublin ranked 13th, with Big 7 Travel looking at a number of criteria such as nightlife, dating app usage and overall population.
"You’ll certainly have the luck of the Irish when it comes to dating in Dublin," the publication writes. "Not only is it one of the happiest cities in the world, but it’s also one of the top Tinder cities in Europe. If you prefer to meet people in person, Dublin has at least six regular speed dating events for a mix of ages."

One of the criteria for deciding the best dating cities in the world for singles is the amount of Tinder and Badoo dating app usage. But one Dublin matchmaker previously told Dublin Live how dating apps might be doing more damage than good, revealing that he has seen a dip in people's confidence as a result of using dating apps.
Other contentious criteria that pushed Dublin so high up the list was the amount of nightlife available for people and affordability. A recent Post-Pandemic Report by District Magazine revealed that the number of late night venues in Dublin has fallen from 41 to just 19 in the last ten years.
Meanwhile, rising cost of living means less and less people are heading out to socialise. The Cost of Living Consumer Pulse Survey, carried out across Ireland and the UK last month, found that 42% of Irish adults plan to visit hospitality venues far less often between now and New Year’s Eve.
