The postseason is underway in men’s college golf, and after the NCAA Regionals, the NCAA Div. I Men’s Golf Championship field is set for May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
With that, the race for the 2023 Haskins Award presented by Stifel is starting to heat up.
A handful of players have made their case throughout the season as front-runners for the Haskins Award, which honors the player of the year in men’s college golf, as selected by college golfers, coaches and members of the college golf media.

Ludvig Aberg, Texas Tech
Aberg, a senior, has been on a tear this spring. He won the Big 12 Championship and medalist honors at the Norman Regional. He has four victories this season and nine top-10 finishes. His adjusted scoring average is 68.63 while sitting 29th in strength of schedule.
Adrien Dumont de Chassart, Illinois
The fifth-year senior has had a strong season for the Big 10 champion Illini. Dumont de Chassart won the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate and has added eight top-10 finishes. He also has a 69.39 adjusted scoring average, and his strength of schedule is 231.
David Ford, North Carolina
Ford, a sophomore, won the Jackson T. Stephens Cup and also has eight top 10s with the 24th-best strength of schedule. His adjusted scoring average is 69.96 , and Ford also finished runner-up three times.
Ben James, Virginia
Ben James had a stellar freshman season. He won five times, his biggest win coming at the Las Vegas Regional. He also won two of his first three starts and has a 69.15 adjusted scoring average with 10 top-10 finishes. His strength of schedule is 202.
Tommy Kuhl, Illinois
Kuhl is another fifth-year senior for Illinois. Although he doesn’t have any wins this year, he does have nine top-10 finishes and a 70.02 adjusted scoring average. His strength of schedule sits at 229, two in front of teammate Dumont de Chassart.
Christo Lamprecht, Georgia Tech
Lamprecht, a junior, had another strong season. He won the Inverness Intercollegiate in the fall and added eight top-10 finishes. He also had a 69.49 adjusted scoring average and was 40th in strength of schedule.
Maxwell Moldovan, Ohio State
Moldovan picked up his lone victory this season at the Auburn Regional, helping the Buckeyes earn their way to the NCAA Championship. He also has 10 top 10s, is 158th in strength of schedule and has a 70.19 adjusted scoring average.
Gordon Sargent, Vanderbilt
Sargent, the defending NCAA individual champion, had a stellar season for the Commodores. He won three times, including the East Lake Cup and the Mason Rudolph Championship, and has 11 top-10 finishes with a 68.28 adjusted scoring average.
Preston Summerhays, Arizona State
Preston Summerhays, a sophomore, got stronger as the season went on. He won the Thunderbird Collegiate and had seven top-10 finishes. His strength of schedule ranked sixth and he had a 70.34 adjusted scoring average.
Michael Thorbjornsen, Stanford
The junior collected two wins this season, but the biggest was at the Pac-12 Championship. He also had eight top-10 finishes while posting a 69.4 adjusted scoring average with the 14th-best strength of schedule.
