Has Gio van Bronckhorst turned a corner for Rangers with the thumping win against Aberdeen on Saturday?
DAVID McCARTHY : At least he can see the corner now. But Rangers need another big performance against Ajax to build some much needed momentum.
FRASER WILSON: Starting to turn a corner, perhaps. It was exactly what the manager needed and maybe even better that they did it after falling behind. It had character, intensity and a fair bit of quality. The question is where’s that all been in the last month or so?
MICHAEL GANNON: Time will tell but it’s a good start. Van Bronckhorst really needed that performance as well as the result. They also showed character that’s been lacking in recent weeks. There are still brutal injury problems so he needs to maintain form until the World Cup and then regroup.
How does Ange Postecoglou approach this week’s Champions League dead rubber against Real Madrid?
DAVID: Like every other game, I’d imagine - at full throttle. He’ll be looking to make a real statement in Madrid, so I expect a strong team to go for it.
FRASER: I think we all know now. I expect nothing other than another front foot attempt to unsettle the La Liga giants. Unfortunately I can only see it ending in another valiant defeat.
MICHAEL: He should wrap his main men in cotton wool for Dundee United at the weekend but it’s doubtful he will. Postecoglou will want to finish the group on their terms and will go out and attempt to pull off a morale-boosting win.
It’s been hard going in Europe this season for Scottish sides, but how will they do in this final week of continental competition?
DAVID: Rangers can beat Ajax but by nowhere near the five goals required. Celtic will have a go but lose and Hearts will be right up against it in Turkey.
FRASER: Another tough few days. Rangers are beset by injury problems at the back and might have to settle for a score draw against Ajax. Celtic have too big a task in Madrid while Hearts could also struggle away to an Istanbul side needing to win to guarantee top spot.
MICHAEL: It could be another rough night for Hearts unless Basaksehir take the foot off the gas. Rangers might surprise a few by beating Ajax, even if it won’t be enough to claim third and Celtic will have a go but will be outgunned by a Real Madrid side who will want to finish top of the group.
The Championship looks as cut-throat as ever with a new leader in Ayr United, but who has the tools to finish on top come May?
DAVID: That’s the toughest question of the week. Just about anybody can win that league but I’ve a sneaky suspicion Morton might do it. Dougie Imrie is shaping up as a very good manager.
FRASER: Ayr look the real deal on and off the pitch where Graeme Mathie has brought a new level of professionalism above boss Lee Bullen. But I expect Dundee to come good and just pip the Honest Men come May.
MICHAEL: Throw a dart at the wall as it looks a genuine seven horse race and any time a team shows form they soon hit the skids. Dundee could be the dark horses.
