Derrick White will enter the new season as the Boston Celtics starting point guard. Since Brad Stevens acquired the veteran guard in 2022, White has slowly established himself as a core part of Boston’s rotation. Currently, White has two years remaining on his four-year $70 million deal.
However, during a recent appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today, White revealed how he would be open to negotiating a contract extension to extend his stay with the Celtics. White has proven to be a reliable member of the Celtics rotation since joining the team and has displayed an ability to operate as both a primary and secondary ball-handler alongside Jayson Tatum.
On the latest episode of the ‘Green With Envy Podcast,’ the hosts discussed whether Stevens should consider providing White with an extension or risk letting his current deal dwindle down.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what the trio had to say about whether White has earned an extension on his current deal.
