For a long time, I wondered if there was something unusual about me because I had never been in a long-term relationship. Around me, people seemed to move from one relationship to another, while I was busy with studies, work, family and figuring out my own life. Growing up Indian made it even more interesting. Relationships were discussed, but they were not always treated as something that needed to happen immediately. Somewhere along the way, being single stopped feeling like a temporary phase and became part of who I was. And then I started wondering: has all that time without a relationship actually shaped me?
