Haryana: Water carrier commits suicide inside Yamunanagar district police lines, case registered

YAMUNANAGAR: The Haryana police has registered a case of abetment of suicide after an employee of Haryana police allegedly ended his life after consuming some poisonous substance in district police line at Jagadhri in Yamunanagar on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Gurnam Singh (45) of Bijauli village of Yamunanagar district, who was posted as a water carrier in police department.

The family members of deceased Gurnam alleged that he was being harassed by some policemen, due to which, he took extreme step. Gurnam's brother Sonu told media that his brother was being harassed by some policemen.

Yamunanagar district SP Mohit Handa said that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken against those found guilty.

Jagadhri City police SHO inspector Nasib Singh confirmed that a case was registered under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, the SHO did not disclose the names of those booked. Sources said that a case was registered against some policemen.
