Haryana: Panchkula villages being spruced up under ‘Maha safai abhiyan’

PANCHKULA: The Maha Safai Abhiyan (Mega Cleanliness Drive) started in Panchkula from Rattewali village of Barwala block. The cleanliness drive is being organised in all 128 village panchayats of the district on the occasion of Shri Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 16.

Haryana Assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta wielded a broom to clean the premises of Government Senior Secondary School, Rattewali. He also planted a sapling on the occasion. Deputy commissioner (DC) Mahavir Kaushik and BJP district president Ajay Sharma were present on the occasion.

Gupta also inaugurated a training centre under the Haryana skill development mission at gram sachivalya (village secretariat), Rattewali. Greeting people, Gupta said that with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this drive is being organised in every village and city. He said that the he said, special emphasis had been laid on strengthening and widening of roads, said Gupta, adding that 12 to 16 lane roads were being constructed in India on the lines of foreign countries.

Referring to the Panchkula-Yamunanagar road, Gupta said earlier, it used to take two and a half hours to reach Yamunanagar from Panchkula. Moreover, the single lane road resulted in frequent road accidents. DC Mahavir Kaushik assured that streets and drains in all villages would be cleaned during the drive. He said cleanliness work would be supervised by the SDM and BDPO. The DC also congratulated villagers for the training center started under the Haryana skill development mission at Rattewali village. He said that after getting training from here, youth would get ample employment opportunities.
