Haryana: Of 10 sedition cases in 2 years, 3 during farm stir

CHANDIGARH: In Haryana, 10 FIRs related to sedition charges were registered in the past two years till December 2021. While three FIRs were registered in relation to the farmers protest,two are related to Sikh For Justice (SFJ)’s leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

In one case, the Haryana police had slapped sedition charges in December 2020 on a youngster who had made a hoax call to stop a train he had missed. Expressing surprise, even the trial court in Faridabad called it “misuse” of sedition law by the state police.
