Nuh man held in Jammu & Kashmir, stole over 800 new phones

GURGAON: A man has been arrested for allegedly looting the delivery truck of an e-commerce firm in November 2021. He had stolen 807 phones from the truck, according to police. The accused, identified as Wasim, is a resident of Nuh and was held in Srinagar on July 11.

Wasim, a wanted criminal in Uttar Pradesh with a reward of Rs 15,000 on his head, was absconding after the theft. Police have recovered four Z-folded phones worth Rs 1 lakh each.

On November 23, 2021,police received a complaint from truck driver Zakir who had left for Bangalore with the goods from the warehouse. He had gone to a hotel to have food near Pathredi villagewhen the theft took place. He alleged the lock of the truck was broken and goods were stolen.

Upon interrogation, it was found that Zakir too was involved in the crime along with two others, Imran and Muhammad Mustafa alias Bhura. All three were arrested in February, and Rs 3,35,000 was recovered from their possession.

However, prime accused Wasim, who had committed a similar crime in UP confessed that he had sold some of the phones. “He was involved in a robbery in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The UP police had announced a reward on his head,” said the police official.
