Haryana: Missing Panipat taxi driver found murdered in Sonipat

KARNAL: A 24-year-old Panipat youth, who went missing on October 14 evening, was found murdered on Rohat-Fatehpur road in Sonipat.

The deceased has been identified as Mohit Soni, a taxi driver and a resident of Preet Vihar in Panipat city.

In his complaint to the police, deceased's father Rajender Singh said," On October 14 evening, my son Mohit went to Raslapur village from where he left for Jhajjar after taking the passengers. When my son reached Bahalgarh in Sonipat, his location went disappeared. Subsequently, we tried to contact him on his mobile number, which was found switched off."

Thereafter, we went to Bahalgarh, but we did not get any clue about Mohit, Rajender added.

It is alleged that the accused murdered Mohit after looting his car and other valuables.

On Saturday, Sonipat police recovered an unidentified body on the Rohat-Fatehpur road in the Sonipat district. Later, it was identified as Mohit. Subsequently, Panipat police registered a case of murder and started the investigation.

Panipat SP Shashank Kumar Sawan said," We have added section 302 in the FIR registered under section 365 of the Indian Penal Code. Five teams have been formed to crack the case. Even, we got some important clues and soon we will nab the accused. The investigation is on."

The body has been handed over to the family members after the postmortem examination conducted by a board of doctors in Sonipat, the SP added.
