Haryana elections: BJP board to meet soon, first list by August 28 or 29, says Manohar Lal Khattar

KARNAL: Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Monday the first list of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Haryana assembly polls will be out by Aug 28 or 29, adding the BJP is going to form govt for the third time in Haryana “with full majority for sure”.

“One list has already been prepared. Interested candidates are submitting their biodata. The Central Parliamentary Board will soon hold a meeting and the final list will be released then,” Khattar said.

Asked if the BJP doesn’t attain a majority, who it will support, Khattar replied, “I don’t answer to ifs and buts.”

The former chief minister held a meeting with the party workers at Karan Kamal inKarnal on Monday.

He then visited Sanatan Dharam temple in the evening to celebrate Janmashtami and congratulated citizens saying, “It’s an auspicious occasion and I wish everyone a very happy Janmashtami.”

Khattar distanced himself from the recent Kangana Ranaut row. When asked aboutthe Mandi MP’s statement where she compared farmers' protest to the situation in Bangladesh, he said, “The party will talk to her. I didn't talk to her, hence I cannot reply. It wasn’t the party’s opinion.”

Praising UPS, Manohar Lal said, employees will be benefited especially the retired ones.

Congress disrespected Baba Sahib: Ex-CM

Union minister of power besides housing and urban affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, alleged on Monday that the Congress had disrespected Baba Sahib (Bhimrao Ambedkar) by denying him Bharat Ratna until being ousted from power and insulting the Constitution in which he had given equal rights to the Dalits.

Khattar was at the ‘Dalit Samman Swabhiman Samaroh’ in Kurukshetra, where he said: “Atrocities on the Dalits of Mirchpur and Gohana during previous tenures of Congress are not hidden. It amended the Constitution multiple times but today it spreads lies that the BJP wants to change it.”
