Haryana: Bookie attacks man, takes away car to recover Rs 7 lakh in Panchkula

PANCHKULA: Police have booked a cricket bookie of Mandi Gobindgarh and three others for allegedly attacking a Panchkula resident and taking away his car after making him sign blank papers on Thursday. Raj Kumar of Sector 20 had lost Rs 7.20 lakh in betting on IPL matches. The main accused is Kapil Handa. Kumar said he had come in contact with Handa through Sunny, a resident of Zirakpur, four years back.

He said he and his two friends came to Panchkula court on May 27, where they had prepared an affidavit for Rs 8 lakh to give the amount to Handa. He said he and Handa left from the court in his grey black BRV Honda car while his two friends followed them in their car.

He said as soon as they reached near a mosque in Devi Nagar in Sector 3 at 6.15 pm, Handa's friends drove their car in front of his car. Both of them came and sat in his car and all the three abused and manhandled him. They allegedly made him sign an affidavit for transferring the car in their name besides taking away his purse containing about Rs 13,000 and a mobile phone.
