Harthill Football Club to rejoin East of Scotland League after year spent in West of Scotland League

Harthill Royal Community Football Club will join the East of Scotland Football League after a period playing in the West of Scotland league.

Following the changeover from the East Region Juniors Football League to the East of Scotland Football League for many local teams, the Harthill club was given the unique option to choose between the East of Scotland or the West of Scotland league.

The North Lanarkshire club was given the choice due to its unique grounds position – on the borderlands between North Lanarkshire and West Lothian.

The decision was made originally to go to the West of Scotland league but a change of heart will see the club re-joining the East of Scotland league.

Harthill Royal Community Football Club secretary, Audrey Gray, said: “For various reasons moving to the West of Scotland league wasn’t the right choice to make.

“Our management team has changed, as have a lot of our players – we’re attracting a lot of new people from the east.

“We’re all looking forward to it – new challenges, local derbies against teams like Fauldhouse, Bathgate, and Armadale – we have lots of friends in the east of Scotland and we’re looking forward to making new friends as well.”
