(Picture: Getty Images for The Recording A)Harry Styles will donate more than $1million (£790,760) from his current tour to an anti-gun violence charity after the Texas school shooting.
The former One Direction star, 28, will partner with gun control charity Everytown to raise the cash during his upcoming 42-show, sold-out “Love on Tour 2022”.
“Along with all of you, I have been absolutely devastated by the recent string of mass shootings in America, culminating at the latest in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas,” the singer wrote on Instagram.
“On our North American tour, we will be partnering with Everytown who work to end gun violence, donating to support their efforts, and sharing their suggested action items.”
Captioning the post simply “End gun violence” Styles also drew attention to the grim statistic that in the US guns are the leading cause of death of children and teens.
Soon after Styles’s donation announcement, entertainment company Live Nation said it will match the singer’s donation to Everytown, “equalling over $1m and counting”.

Actor and Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey addressed Tuesday’s mass shooting, saying that people need to “rearrange our values” to find common ground.
Singer Taylor Swift said she was filled “with rage and grief, and so broken by the murders in Uvalde”.
Selena Gomez added: “In my home state of Texas 18 innocent students were killed while simply trying to get an education. A teacher killed doing her job; an invaluable yet sadly under appreciated job. If children aren’t safe at school where are they safe?”
It came as US President Joe Biden told mourners he would act as he visited the shattered community of Uvalde on Sunday.
Joe Biden mourned privately for three hours with anguished families of the shooting. Faced with chants of “do something” as he departed a church service, Biden pledged: “We will.”
