Harry Styles is said to have avoided last night’s Met Gala “like the bubonic plague” so that he wouldn’t have any awkward run-ins with his ex-girlfriend Olivia Wilde and his recent fling Emily Ratajkowski.
Styles, 29, graciously declined an invitation from Vogue icon Anna Wintour to the prestigious event after learning that both Wilde, 39, and Ratajkowski, 31, would be attending.
Styles was in a relationship with Don’t Worry Darling director Wilde for two years until their November 2022 split.
“Harry was invited to the Met Gala, but knowing that both of them were definitely going, he avoided it like it was the bubonic plague,” an insider told DailyMail.com.
“He was told by his team that they would take all necessary steps to ensure that there was no awkward run-in with Olivia, but he was not trying to risk it at all.
“Harry has no desire to have a face-to-face encounter with Olivia at this time.”
The star-studded event was the first time that Wilde and Ratajkowski crossed paths since the Blurred lines model was pictured passionately kissing the former One Direction star on the streets of Tokyo.
The tension between the women escalated when Ratajkowski told Vogue Spain she “feels bad” for allegedly upsetting Wilde, who she’s been friendly with in the past.
It’s said that Wilde felt ‘betrayed’ by the fling, which happened just weeks after the two ladies were seen hanging out and posing together for snaps at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party.
Prior to that, the pair were seen dancing side by side at one of Styles’ concerts for his Love On Tour shows.
However, Met Gala night went without incident and both women even headed to the same after party at New York City’s, Zero Bond.
“Running into Olivia at an event with Emily would just be way too intense,” the source added of styles, who became the first man to ever grace the cover of American Vogue on his own.
The 2023 Met Gala returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a host of A-list stars gracing the carpet from Kim Kardashian to Cardi B.
