Prince Harry claims that he found out that the Queen had died by looking at the news online as he flew up to Balmoral without Meghan as she was told not to come, it is reported.
Multiple leaks and the accidental sale of Harry's memoir, Spare, in Spain has resulted in a flurry of explosive revelations from his autobiography, due out next week.
The book is being released four months after the death of the Queen and follows years of turmoil for the Royal Family amid the Megxit crisis, Philip's death, accusations of racism in the Sussexes' Oprah interview and the long-running feud between William and Harry.
With the Sussexes having moved to California it was by chance that they were in the UK, having travelled to Europe for charity events, when the Queen died.
And with the Queen seriously ill members of the family headed up to Balmoral to be by her bedside.
In his book, Harry reportedly said he was thinking of the last time that he was with his grandmother and what they were talking about, during the flight up to Balmoral.
He was not with Meghan after he had been told that she should not come by Charles, he claimed.
And as Harry landed it was then that he went onto the BBC news website where he discovered that the Queen had died, it is reported.
He was met by Princess Anne in Scotland and from there went to Balmoral to see the Queen but he was too late to see her before she had died.
“I stayed in one place without moving, gazing at her for a long time, gathered strength and continued going forward,” he said, reported The Sun.
He also said he "whispered to her that I hoped she was happy and that she was with grandpa".
Harry also mentioned in the book that at that final moment with the Queen he told her of his admiration for her.
He said he "admired her for having carried out her functions to the end... the Jubilee, welcoming the new Prime Minister".
Harry also revealed how Charles came to say Meghan should not come, by giving some reasons which he felt did not make any sense and were disrespectful.
He claims that Charles was then repentant and began "stammering" saying that he didn't want too many people there.
