Harry Potter and Cracker actor Robbie Coltrane has died at age 72, according to his agent.

The actor and comedian is best known for his roles as Hagrid in the film adaptations of JK Rowling's books, and and for playing Dr Edward "Fitz" Fitzgerald in Cracker.

Coltrane was one of Britain's best-loved comedy actors. His agent Belinda Wright said the 72-year-old star died on Friday.
