Harry Kewell has opened up on talks with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou during his tough times in management.
The 43-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by Barnet last year.
Kewell has been stuck in the English lower leagues, having varying levels of success with Crawley Town, Notts County, Oldham Athletic.
However, he is set to receive a chance as Celtic Park with reports suggesting the former Liverpool will be appointed as a coach imminently.
Kewell had retired from international duty before Postecoglou's time in charge, and also narrowly missed the boss when rounding out his playing days at Melbourne Victory.
But the pair built a connection as coaches, and the former Liverpool man has said Postecoglou was always open to a phone call.
Speaking to Sky Sports following Postecoglou's arrival at Celtic, he said: "The one thing Ange told me, and this has stuck with me, is go your own way.
"Once you start listening to other people, you run into trouble."
Kewell also offered a mystic prediction on Celtic's Premiership title challenge as he backed Postecoglou to silence any doubters during his debut campaign.
Speaking after the appointment, he said: "First of all, he is a fantastic guy, and I think it's fantastic news that they have gone for an Australian.
"I hear it's only a 12 month contract that they have gone for, which is a shame because I think it takes longer for a manager to put his stamp on it.
"The one thing he does have is his own ideas. He won't be tempted to play any other way, and he will definitely be challenging."
