Harry Kane is set to be Manchester United's top priority in the summer transfer window, with Erik ten Hag keen to improve his options at striker.
Centre-forward has proven to be a problem position this campaign for Ten Hag, with Wout Weghorst struggling for goals. In a bid to boost his options in that area, the United boss is pushing hard to sign Kane, who recently became England and Tottenham's record scorer.
They face a challenge to sign the Three Lions skipper though, with Spurs unlikely to be willing to allow their star man to leave on the cheap. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at the situation, with time quickly ticking down to the opening of the summer window.
Kane's stance
With Kane still having failed to win a major trophy at club level, and no way to end that drought this season, the striker may be increasingly open to leaving Spurs. He is about to enter the final year of his current contract and United certainly look well-placed to challenge for trophies.
According to The Athletic, there is a feeling at Old Trafford that the Red Devils are an appealing proposition for Kane. It would be a flip of the Frenkie de Jong situation from last summer, when Barcelona agreed a fee but the midfielder did not want to move.
Kane remains focused on helping Tottenham to finish in the top four and wants to be a leader at the club. Extending his stay at Spurs has not been ruled out, though with the striker approaching his 30th birthday, he may feel this is the best time to depart.

Levy's vow
While Kane is open to leaving Tottenham, chairman Daniel Levy will not make things easy for United. Levy has little desire to see Kane leave the club, though there is an argument that cashing in on him might be the best move.
According to the Daily Mail, Levy has 'no intention' of ever selling a player to either of the two Manchester clubs again. He still regrets allowing Kyle Walker to join City six years ago and has never forgiven himself for letting it happen.
As a result, he is said to have 'vowed' to never make the same mistake again. With Levy a notoriously difficult man to negotiate with at the best of times, his vow is a major obstacle to United's pursuit of Kane, one they will have to overcome.
Bayern eye move
It is not only from Tottenham where United are facing a challenge, though, with Bayern Munich also weighing up a move for the England captain. Bayern chief executive Oliver Khan has not hidden his admiration of Kane, admitting a move for him is a "dream of the future".
Sky Germany have reported that the Bundesliga giants are working on a deal worth between £70m and £88m in a bid to sign him. Adding further intrigue is the fact that new Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is a huge fan of Kane.
Bayern have failed to properly replace superstar striker Robert Lewandowski, who left last summer. And Tuchel could urge Bayern chiefs to follow through on their interest, having previously admitted he would love to work with the Spurs man.
