Harry Kane the shining light in poor Tottenham season as he scoops another award

He's been doing it for so long that the superlatives are running out for the majesty of Harry Kane.

Tottenham's struggles on and off the pitch have been heavily documented, with manager turmoil and a miserly 8th placed finish in the Premier League. But once again Harry Kane has set the pitch alight on an individual level.

Were it not for the astounding numbers of Erling Haaland, Kane's name would have been up in lights and likely swept all sorts of awards post-season.

To score 30 league goals in the Premier League is an incredible feat, but to do so for a side that lumbered to an 8th placed finish is simply sensational. There's an argument that it has been Kane's best ever season in terms of his performances.

The Englishman cemented his place in Spurs folklore as he surpassed the great Jimmy Greaves to become the club's record goalscorer, and has since been immortalised in the form of a mural near to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

He now firmly has his sights set on Alan Shearer's Premier League goals record of 260, and if he stays in England and especially with Spurs it would be smart money to bet he reaches it.

With all that being said, of the four nominees in football.london's Spurs player of the season poll there was only ever going to be one winner.

Thousands of Lilywhites fans voted and Kane scooped an overwhelming 84% of the vote, completely blowing the other three out of the water.

Rodrigo Bentancur, as unlucky as he was with injury derailing his season, came second with 8% of the vote. Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg picked up 4% each respectively for joint third.

Kane's individual brilliance is almost unrivalled, and it will be intriguing to see how he operates with a more attacking minded coach in Ange Postecoglou next season. Perhaps he can unlock an even greater goal threat.

Whatever happens, Kane and fans alike will be hoping for a much better season and that his brilliance can lead Spurs to that elusive and long awaited trophy.

Have your say on who you would keep or sell at Spurs, including cashing in on Kane...
