Harry Kane enjoyed the perfect preparation for the North London Derby on Monday night at Wembley, scoring from the penalty spot for an improved England to make the score 3-2 before Kai Havertz' late equaliser for Germany.
England scored their first goals from open play during their entire Nations League campaign on Saturday night, and the England skipper was at the heart of the performance. In the first half, Kane almost scored a spectacular goal from an angle out wide on the right-hand-side of the penalty box and was part of a promising front three alongside Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden.
However, it was when Bukayo Saka and Mason Mount came on to the pitch in place of Sterling and Foden that England came alive with the pair scoring a goal apiece to tie the game up at 2-2. This was before a nasty challenge on man of the match Jude Bellingham from Nico Schlotterbeck saw England awarded a penalty and the chance to seal a remarkable comeback.

There was little doubt who would be stepping up, with Kane having been England's primary spot-kick taker ever since the retirement of Wayne Rooney. The Spurs striker looked particularly focused on this occasion and did not disappoint, blasting the ball into the top corner with a perfect spot kick and celebrating what he thought to be the winner with less than 10 minutes to play.
Despite not winning the match, Kane looked sharp and his penalty shows that one of his key weapons against Arsenal down the years is in fine shape. Tottenham's all-time Premier League goalscorer has scored 13 goals in the North London Derby in 15 outings, with a remarkable six of those coming from the penalty spot.
The 29-year-old scored from the spot in May's crucial Champions League decider at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Spurs running out 3-0 winners against the Gunners in a crucial fixture which saw them secure Champions League qualification.
This time round, the match is the early kick-off in Saturday's Premier League schedule, leaving his Wembley exploits fresh in the mind ahead of another huge North London date.
Kane has scored six goals in seven games so far this season, despite not having looked at his best. However, a performance such as the one he put in for England on Monday night may well propel him to greater heights this season and with his impressive record in the North London Derby, Saturday will be a perfect place to start.
