Harry Kane's Tottenham future outlined as Wayne Rooney claim made amid transfer business

Talk of Harry Kane's future at Tottenham doesn't seem to go away, even when the 28-year-old captain doesn't look like he's going anywhere this summer. Kane's season started off slow, after the transfer saga last summer, where his move to Man City seemed likely.

The 28-year-old then found his form and ended the season on a high. With Spurs claiming a Champions League spot and Antonio Conte seemingly happy in north London, it seems Kane will remain at Tottenham too.

The ambition both the striker and manager want to see has already been shown in the summer transfer window so far, with the Lilywhites' two new arrivals. Both Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster signed two-year deals with Spurs and Yves Bissouma doesn't seem too far behind them.

However this doesn't stop talk about Kane's immediate and long-term future in N17, with already some links to Liverpool in the last couple of months. Former Tottenham player Chris Waddle has given his verdict on what he believes the striker should do, in regards to his future at Spurs.

"Kane is better off sitting down with the Tottenham board, ending the uncertainty of his future and negotiating a contract until he retires. Unless he sees the grass being greener elsewhere, he needs to sit down and commit the rest of his playing days to Tottenham," Waddle said, when speaking to BoyleSports Premier League Betting.

The 28-year-old is now just three goals away from reaching Wayne Rooney's record for the most goals scored for England. However the 61-year-old doesn't believe he is quite on par with Rooney.

"Harry Kane is up there and his goals prove that. He's the best of his generation and the best England have got right now, he's intelligent and knows how to put the ball in the net," he admitted. "The level of international football isn't as good as it was in my opinion. There's a lot of teams England know they will thump and Kane has taken advantage of that.

"Kane’s been the top striker of his generation, but even if or when he breaks the England goalscoring record, It won't make him the best centre forward we've ever had. I don't think he's better than the likes of Wayne Rooney - a lot of the previous England strikers are better than him."

Despite Waddle's opinion, Kane is still producing quality for both club and country and quality is also being seen in Spurs' transfer business so far. The former Tottenham man gave his verdict on Perisic, not long after he signed his deal.

"Ivan Perisic is a strange signing because he's not the most physical player, doesn’t have the best stamina and he's joining a league where you do need a pair of legs. He's a free transfer and it’s a little bit against Tottenham's policies to sign someone like Perisic but clearly Conte has got his way there," he said.

This summer is arguably the most vital in years, for Daniel Levy to back a Spurs manager and Conte and Fabio Paratici have already done some good business so far, with a lot more expected. If Tottenham can continue having a busy summer, with the likes of Kane and Conte sticking around, it could be a successful season to come, in N17.
