Harry Kane makes fresh transfer plea to Tottenham as Arsenal open talks with Liverpool 'target'

The summer transfer window is officially open, and a number of big-name players could be on the move.

Harry Kane is entering the final year of his current Tottenham deal and has been the subject of interest from many of Europe's elite clubs in the early weeks of the summer transfer window. The England international is heading into the final year of his contract.

Kylian Mbappe's future at Paris Saint-Germain is once again up in the air, reportedly placing Real Madrid on red alert. The superstar forward reportedly wants to leave the French champions this summer.

And below, we have taken a look at the latest news relating to Liverpool’s main competitors ahead of the new campaign.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane reportedly still hopes Manchester United will revive their bid to sign him this summer if Tottenham chief Daniel Levy lowers his £100m demand.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who are reporting that United have made it clear that they will not do business at £100m for a player who turns 30 next month and only has one year left on his contract at Spurs. The report also claims that United have ended their interest in Kane for now and moved on to more attainable targets like Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund.

However, the report then goes on to claim that Kane's clear preference is United and he hopes that Levy will relent rather than have to write off £80m. The England international is entering the final year of his contract.

Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber

Arsenal have reportedly had offers rejected for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber worth a combined £120m.

That is according to The Times, who are reporting that Arsenal’s improved second offer for Rice of £75m plus £15m in add-ons, to be paid over four years, fell short of West Ham United’s valuation, which has increased to £120m. The Hammers want to receive a British transfer record fee, which would surpass the £106.8 million that Chelsea paid Benfica for Enzo Fernández in January.

The same report also claims that Arsenal have opened talks with Ajax to sign Timber, the centre-back who has two years left on his contract and is valued at about £42.8 million. Timber was also linked with a move to Liverpool last season.

Mateo Kovacic

Manchester City are reportedly closing in on the £25m signing of Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

That’s according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, who is reporting that a bid has been submitted for the Croatia international and all parties are hopeful of a conclusion before the end of the week. It is claimed that City were then given permission to speak to the 29-year-old at the start of the month, before he went on international duty, to ascertain personal terms.

During his time with the club, Kovacic has added a fourth Champions League trophy to the three he won with Real Madrid, as well as the Europa League in 2019. He made 221 appearances for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge.
