Harry Kane handed Kylian Mbappe role in bid to destroy Man Utd transfer plan

Tottenham will listen to what Harry Kane has to say before appointing the club’s next manager – a similar move Paris Saint-Germain deployed to placate Kylian Mbappe last summer.

Spurs are currently on the lookout for a new permanent boss with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann a prime contender. Antonio Conte was dismissed in April with current caretaker boss Ryan Mason replacing Cristian Stellini last week.

Nagelsmann has found himself on the lookout for a new job after being sacked by Bayern in March. He was replaced by former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel in the Bayern hotseat, with the club subsequently going out of both the German Cup and Champions League.

Nagelsmann, who has already spoken about his admiration for English football, pulled out of the race to become the next permanent Chelsea boss last month. He remains a prime candidate to be the new Tottenham boss this summer.

The North London club not only have a big decision to make over their new boss but also over their star striker Kane. The England captain is out of contract at Spurs next year, meaning that this summer could be the final opportunity for the north London club to cash-in on their star man. However, there is no indication that the club will sanction an exit this summer.

Kane, 29, is on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s target list this summer as he is on red alert to sign a central striker at Old Trafford. United are desperate to sign an elite central striker and believe Kane’s contractual situation will mean that a deal is possible.

Have Your Say! Should Kane look to leave Spurs this summer? Tell us what you think here.

A report in The Sun outlines how Kane will have a say before any Spurs manager is appointed this summer, despite major doubts over his own future. Daniel Levy remains keen to keep the England captain in North London, ideally with a new contract. This draws comparisons to Mbappe’s role at PSG, where he signed a new contract last summer having appeared likely to leave.

Mbappe had one condition for remaining at PSG last year that was critical for him considering staying at the club. He demanded that he have an influential voice in the sport’s direction of the club, including a say on who is the manager and sporting director at the club along with potential incoming players.

Kane is not only wanted by Manchester United but Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all believed to hold an interest in the England captain, whose future beyond this summer remains uncertain.
