Prince Harry has 'woken up to truth' about Meghan Markle, claims former royal butler

Paul Burrell has claimed he had a secret meeting with Prince William and Harry back in 2017.

It was previously believed that the Prince of Wales, 40, and the Duke of Sussex , 38, last met with the former butler, who worked closely with their mum, in 1997 following Princess Diana's funeral.

However, it has now been claimed that both brothers held a previously unknown meeting with Paul at Kensington Palace in 2017, ahead of Harry announcing his engagement to Meghan Markle, according to the Sun.

It comes after the former I'm A Celeb star speculated on GB News last week that Prince Harry has "finally woken up to the truth" about his wife.

Speaking to Dan Wootton, the 64-year-old claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was being held together by Harry's wish to keep their family together for the sake of their children, as writes the Scottish Daily Express.

Burrell said: "Am I the only person in the UK that is thinking, 'Has Harry finally woken up to the truth?'

"Has he finally seen the truth of what his wife is doing and that he's been brainwashed and mesmerised by her beauty or something, because we all know that but he doesn't seem to see it."

He added: "I personally know Harry and I think he's always wanted to be a father, he's always wanted children, I think this element of splitting from his family right now is a little premature, I think he would want to stay in that driving seat to watch his children grow because if he left this relationship now he'd lose his children because she'd keep them in America and he wouldn't see them."

The author and former butler, who penned multiple books about his experience working for Princess Diana, predicted that Harry would leave his abode in California and return to the UK.

He also claimed both his family and the British public would welcome him home.

He said: "I have no doubt that when this happens, because we all know that it will happen, when it does happen then he will return to the United Kingdom and I think his father, the King, and his brother, the Prince of Wales will both greet him back into the country with open arms. There is an element of Harry we all love, we just don't understand why he's doing what he's doing at the moment."

The couple's marriage is currently under scrutiny due to reports that Harry has been residing in a hotel near their home in Montecito.

However, friends of the pair have denied the claims, but it has done little to end speculation.

Burrell said Diana had told him that she wanted Harry and William to grow up in a "secure marriage", despite her highly publicised break-up with Charles in the 1990s.

He also said that Diana had seen her own parents split up when she was a child and that – like many other children – she had blamed herself for it.

Burrell added: "Because of all of that, I think Harry will try to stick with the programme for as long as he possibly can. You will inevitably see cracks in this marriage because we know with great press and great criticism and world fame comes great pressure and this couple will have great pressure on their shoulders.

"I personally do not want to see Harry unhappy again, I've seen too many tears, I want to see him very happy, I want to see him and his family grow but, y'know, there's a niggling doubt in the back of my head."
