A leaked copy of Prince Harry’s new book Spare reportedly contains the revelation that he asked his dad not to marry Camilla - and claimed she was involved in feeding stories to the press. According to the book both Harry and William asked Charles not to marry the love of his life - but said they would welcome her to the family if he did not.
The book is said to say that the issue was over Charles marrying again after the death of their mother Diana in a car crash. Although Spare is not actually supposed to go on sale until January 10, copies have been put in the shops in Spain meaning some have been translated.
Harry also alleges that Camilla leaked details of a meeting she had with William to the press. It also says that Harry claims meeting Camilla for the first time was like awaiting an injection and that she appeared bored as they chatted about horses - and once pondered if she would become his “wicked stepmother”.

Charles did eventually marry Camilla in 2005 and when he became King last year, she became Queen Consort. Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have so-far declined to comment on the leaked claims from Harry’s book, which emerged five days before the explosive tell-all autobiography Spare is due to be published.
Reports suggest that the memoir is mainly critical of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Revelations so far leaked include allegations that William physically attacked Harry and that he branded Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”. Royal commentator Daniela Elser says the Duke of Sussex’s “raw, unflinching honesty” could prove to be a “nightmare” for the Princess of Wales.
The Daily Star reported that Elser, writing for news.com.au, explained the release of the book would be a “particularly hard experience” for Kate. She said: “For Kate, right now, watching her formerly close brother-in-law on the cusp of yet another offensive, and with not only her husband reportedly in his sights but her too, must be a particularly hard experience, not least because there is nothing they can do.”
In one incident reported upon, the brothers had a fierce row in the kitchen of Nottingham Cottage, known as “Nott Cott”, which is in the grounds of Kensington Palace. During the heated confrontation, the pair threw insults at each other, with William allegedly telling his younger brother that he was trying to help him. Harry supposedly replied: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”
Prince Harry has claimed the royal family want to keep him and Meghan as ‘the villains’ in a new interview with ITV in the run up to the publication of his new book. ‘Spare’ is due out on January 10 and he has been interviewed by broadcaster Tom Bradby, who Harry has known for over 20 years. In a teaser for the new ITV interview, Harry says: “They feel as though it’s better to keep us somehow as the villains. They’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile.”
Harry: The Interview airs on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm on January 8.
