Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will use their eviction from Frogmore Cottage as an excuse not to attend the King Charles III's Coronation, a royal expert has claimed.
It was recently revealed that the couple were requested to leave their Windsor residence - which was later reportedly offered to Prince Andrew.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed the news, saying: "We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage."
And now, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond thinks the couple will use the eviction as "another excuse" to not attend the Coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
"They may use that as another excuse since they've already got son Archie's 4th birthday celebrations as a 'get-out'," she claimed.
"It's incredibly awkward - the choreography, where they sit, what role they have, watching Camilla's family and fraught with tension and awkwardness, and Harry might just feel he doesn't want to be there."
The royal expert is still feeling optimistic, adding: "But I'm still hopeful, for Charles' sake, that he will go."
Mirror have contacted their representatives for comment.
The late Queen gave Frogmore Cottage to Harry and Meghan after they got married in 2018.
It was converted into one home, having previously been five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate.
It was previously reported that Prince Harry and Meghan were told that they can stay at Frogmore Cottage if they choose to attend the coronation.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesperson confirmed they were invited by Harry's father King Charles to the event but have not yet confirmed whether they will be attending.
The Sussexes, who now live in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, resided at Frogmore Cottage, on the grounds of Windsor Castle, before they stepped down as senior royals and left the UK.
Harry and Meghan had been expected to let the Frogmore Cottage lease expire after they left the UK for America, but they reportedly committed to a new 12-month rolling deal last April.
In the meantime, the home was used by Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and their young son August.
