The King is said to have been told about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's intention to use royal titles for their children before it became public knowledge. Lilibet, who is one, and three-year-old Archie weren't given HRH titles at birth.
However, Harry and Meghan's daughter was christened as Princess Lilibet by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor, last week. And a royal source has since revealed that the King was notified about the decision before the ceremony took place, writes The Mirror.
A statement has been released, which reads: “The appropriate conversations have taken place ahead of today’s news (of Lilibet’s christening).” A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."
This is the first time their daughter has been publicly referred to as Princess, and she became that after her grandfather, Charles, acceded to the throne following the death of the Queen last year.
Archie and Lilibet will now be known as Prince and Princess in formal settings from now on. Harry and Meghan have also released a picture of their littles ones special day.
We told you recently that King Charles could ban Prince Andrew from wearing ceremonial robes at his Coronation ceremony this Spring - just days after evicting Prince Harry and Meghan Mackle from Frogmore Cottage - so the Duke of York could move in. It's claimed Andrew is furious about being kept in the dark over the decision in whether he can dress in the grand velvet robes.
There was outrage last week after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were told to pack their bags and make way for Andrew at the Windsor estate. They're now in the process of making arrangements for their belongings to be shipped over to their home in California.
King Charles is now said to be torn over whether to allow his disgraced brother to don the theatrical regalia after Andrew was forced to step back from royal duties following a sex abuse scandal. He later had to pay £12million in an out of court settlement to his accuser, Virginia Giuffre.
